Important notice regarding STAR+PLUS MMP (Medicare-Medicaid Plan) and STAR+PLUS service areas

Wellpoint recently became aware that some members enrolled in STAR+PLUS MMP (Medicare-Medicaid Plan) are receiving plan termination letters from providers that were likely intended only for Texas Medicaid members enrolled in STAR+PLUS.

These letters are not intended for members enrolled in STAR+PLUS MMP, and there is no requirement for such members to find a new plan by July 10, 2024.

Wellpoint is actively working with the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on a follow-up communication to send to members. Wellpoint requests that MMP providers refrain from sending STAR+PLUS MMP termination letters to STAR+PLUS MMP members to prevent possible confusion, disruption in care, and disenrollment from the plan.

Please note that official Texas Medicaid plan termination communications for the service areas that Wellpoint is exiting will come directly from HHSC, and the Wellpoint communication(s) will follow thereafter.
